Patient Financial Responsibilities

Patients are required to show insurance cards, Medicaid, Medicare, etc. at each visit.  Self-pay patients should make payment at the time of their visit or make payment arrangements with our office or services received.  The Health Department does not deny services because patients may not be able to pay.

Patient bills are mailed out monthly.  Payment is due within 30 days.  Payments can be made over the phone with a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover Card.  Payments may also be mailed to our Statesville location.

If your account becomes delinquent it will be sent to collections.  If it continues to be past due, it will be reported to the North Carolina Tax Department, where the amount you owe may be taken from your tax refund.

Iredell County Health Department provides many services on a sliding fee scale, meaning that you may pay less if you qualify.

Information for household income must be shown in order to qualify for a discount.  If you are unable to show income information, you may choose to pay full price that day depending on the service.

Flat fee services (i.e. Immunizations, Pregnancy Test, Lab Walk-In, etc.) need to be paid at the time of service.

Health Insurance Billing

Please talk to your insurance carrier about what your plan does and does not cover here at the Health Department before your visit.

Iredell County Health Department will bill patients based on their individual insurance contracts and/or plans.

If your insurance company is listed "in network", we will file your insurance to make it easier for you.  However, insurance companies listed "out of network" will not be billed and patients will be billed directly.

Patients may be required to pay all deductibles and co-payments set by their insurance carrier and any remaining balance that is not covered by the insurance carrier.  You may also have to pay for services that are not covered by your plan.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield is the only insurance accepted for immunizations at this time.  We accept Be Smart (FP Medicaid) for Family Planning services.  To see if you qualify, contact your local Department of Social Services.

Proof of household income is required for Be Smart (FP Medicaid), insurance, and NC Health Choice to qualify for a discount for services not covered by these plans.
