Iredell County Facility Services

A division of the Department of Parks & Recreation, and Facility Services

OUR MISSION:

The Iredell County Facility Services Division is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all County-owned and leased properties, as well as the maintenance of County road name signs. By providing safe, secure, clean, and visibly appealing buildings and grounds, we are proud to serve the needs of Iredell County employees and citizens.

WHAT WE DO:

The Facility Services Division plays many important roles within the Iredell County Government responsibility. There are currently 63 County-owned properties maintained by this division. These properties include all County facilities and departments available to the public, including but not limited to the Health Department, the Department of Social Services, the Hall of Justice and Court facilities, the Detention Center and Sheriff’s office facilities, the Government Center Complex, Board of Elections, all EMS bases, Emergency Communications, the Agricultural Center, the Iredell County Fairgrounds, the Department of Building Standards, all County Libraries, ICATS, the Iredell County Solid Waste Department, Iredell County Animal Services, all Iredell County Parks & Recreation facilities, and the Tax Administration Facility.

Our responsibilities include, but are not limited to landscaping and grounds upkeep, janitorial services and supplies inventory, surplus property, election set-ups, and general maintenance. Also, skilled trades such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, generators, and road sign maintenance are maintained by the Facility Services division. Road Sign maintenance includes any road sign (green road name signs only) inside the Iredell County borders. Any directional signage or other roadway concerns should be reported to the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Road name signs inside City limits should be reported to the City of Statesville or Town of Mooresville.

Road Sign Vandalism and Theft:
What it means for you!

The Iredell County Facility Services division is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all Road Name Signs in Iredell County, excluding those in the City limits. Each year, hundreds of road signs must be repaired or replaced due to vandalism and theft. This is a crime that should be taken seriously. What may seem like harmless fun is actually a destruction that costs tax payers thousands of dollars each year. For each road sign that is stolen or vandalized, tax payers will pay an estimated $200 to replace that sign. This includes the signage, brackets, posts, labor, and other materials used to secure the blades. In the year 2010, 218 signs were either repaired or replaced. Road Sign theft and vandalism can be prevented. If you see anyone vandalizing or removing a road sign, please call the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office at 704.878.3180. If you have any questions and would like more information, call the Facility Services office at 704.878.3102.
