Iredell County Finance Department

 

The Finance Department is responsible for recording and reporting the financial activities of the County. All transactions must be verified for compliance with the annual budget ordinance, NC General Statutes, generally accepted accounting principals, regulatory agency pronouncements and policies adopted by the County. Some of the departmental duties are as follows:

 

  • Maintain detailed accounting recordings for all County departments
  • Disburse payments to vendors
  • Calculate and disburse employee payroll
  • Monitor grant revenues and expenditures
  • Supervise the collection, deposit, and investment of cash
  • Prepare certain State and federal financial reports
  • Monitor and manage long-term debt
  • Assist the County Manager with preparation of the annual budget
  • Manage the County’s workers compensation, property, and liability insurance policies and claims

 

Purchasing responsibilities have been assigned to a member of the Finance Department who is charged with obtaining goods and services in compliance with NC General Statutes and Iredell County policy. Some of these responsibilities include:

 

  • Developing specifications for goods and services for all formally bid items
  • Developing terms and conditions for informally bid items, contracted services, lease arrangements and other items
  • Overseeing delivery of items and inspecting for compliance with specifications
  • Supervising the County’s surplus property sale
