Citizens of Iredell County, working together, emphasizing preventive health practices to improve the quality of life and health status of all individuals.
- Coordinates Healthy Carolinians Taskforce
- Monitors health status of the community
- Conducts the Community Health Assessment
- Develops yearly State of the County Health Reports
- Gathers data for various Iredell County Health Department divisions
- Coordinates subcommittees that work to improve specific health issues. Current subcommittees are: Cancer Coalition, Eat Smart Move More Coalition, Mental Health Committee and Youth Wellness Committee
Cancer Coalition
- Raises awareness of cancer screenings for early detection
- Increases access to cancer screenings, especially prostate, breast, cervical and colon cancers
- Increases utilization of cancer screenings
Eat Smart Move More Coalition
- Works to promote healthier eating and increased physical activity to all citizens of Iredell County.
Mental Health Committee
- Raises awareness of mental health issues in Iredell County
- Works to increase mental health access for residents
- Works to increase local health care providers understanding of how to access mental health services for their patients
- Educates citizens and health care providers on mental health issues and how to access mental health services
Youth Wellness Committee
Works to reduce the rate of teen pregnancy among 15-19 year olds in Iredell County through education in schools and community organizations.
Community Health Assessment 2007
In 2007, Iredell County Healthy Carolinians conducted a Community Health Assessment in conjunction with Iredell County Health Department. This health assessment is a requirement for the Iredell County Health Department and for maintaining local certification of Iredell County Healthy Carolinians. This document presents the 2007 Iredell County Community Health Assessment process, results from the primary and secondary data and leading health concerns within Iredell County.

Community Dissemination of Health Assessment 2007 PowerPoint Presentation
Every year health departments review statistical data. Every 4 years health departments are required to complete a community assessment document including statistical data and surveying the community. It is also a requirement of counties with certified healthy carolinians partnerships. An action plan that identifies health issues and resources to address those issues are included in the final report.
