Iredell County Public Health Department

Share the Harvest!

Did you know that 1 out of 6 families in Iredell County do not have consistent access to enough food by all members at all times? Or that only 10% of individuals in Iredell County eat at least 5 fruits and vegetables per day? There is obviously a need to improve access to fresh fruits and vegetables to these individuals and families. The Iredell County Public Health Department, in coordination with Iredell County Cooperative Extension and Iredell Christian Ministries want to make fresh fruits and vegetables more available to those who need them.

Some of you may already be helping other agencies and/or individuals. We applaud you for that and hope you will continue to donate as you can. You might also consider to “grow an extra row” of plants for the purpose of donating the produce. Do you tend to have more tomatoes or zucchini than you know what to do with? Donate your excess fresh fruits and vegetables help get them to those individuals in need.

Iredell Christian Ministries will be accepting donated fruits and vegetables at their new location: 754 Old Statesville Rd in Statesville.
