Sediment is the largest water pollutant in North Carolina

 

All grading work performed in Iredell County including the City of Statesville, Town of Mooresville, and the Town of Troutman requires a permit.  Please refer to the chart below to help determine which permit is necessary. For further information please see the Iredell County Land Development Code:

The three types of land-disturbance permits are:

  1. Grading Permit:   Required for the construction of a residential dwelling, a non-residential principal structure, or any land-disturbing activity over 5,000 square feet. 
    Requirements:  $61.80 fee residential/$103 fee commercial

  2. Minor Erosion Control Permit:  All land-disturbing activities inside the watershed from a half-acre to an acre.
    Requirements2 copies Simplified Erosion Control Plan, Financial Responsibility Form, Copy of Deed, $135 fee

  3. Major Erosion Control Permit:  All land-disturbing activities greater than one acre.
    Requirements2 copies engineered-sealed Erosion Control Plan, Financial Responsibility Form, Copy of Deed, $175-per-acre fee
