- Can anyone access the information contained in the Register
of Deeds office?
Yes. All information is in our office is public record, except military discharges. Information is available online at www.co.iredell.nc.us.
- What is your mailing address?

- Does your office search titles?
No. This can be done by the individual or by a legal representative.
- How do I obtain a copy of my deed?
Register of Deeds office will provide a copy of you deed at $.25 per page.
If you know the names of the grantors or grantees, the year purchased, and/or information
to help us find the document, you may request it by mail or access the online record search for information back to 1964.
- Can the Register of Deeds tell who owns property at a
specific address?
No. The Iredell County tax department can provide this information if given
a street address. Call (704) 878-5368.
- For my friends without Internet access, how can they obtain
information on the Register of Deeds office?
By dialing (704) 872-7468, patrons may obtain information about
the office by phone. Topics covered marriage license requirements, UCCS, and
cancellations.
- How do I obtain a copy of the map to my property?
Our office will provide a copy of a plat map for $2.00, if it has been recorded. You may also contact the Mapping Department.
- What steps do I take to get married?
The Bride and Groom must personally appear and apply for a license. A license can be issued in any county and the marriage can take place anywhere within the state, but the license must be returned to the county where issued. The license is valid for 60 days. There is no waiting period. The
license is issued upon request. No physical is required.
Government ID such as a drivers license, state issued ID, or Passport, Military ID
must be presented along with the social security card. There is a fee of $60.00 for
the license. An ordained minister or a magistrate may perform the ceremony.
- How do I obtain a copy of my marriage license?
If your marriage took place in Iredell County, you may request a copy by mail or
in person. Copies are available upon return of the original marriage license. To
process the request, we need the name of bride and groom and the date of the marriage.
A certified copy of a marriage license is $10.00.
- Once I have obtained a marriage license, who do I speak with
about a civil ceremony or marriage by the Justice of the Peace?
You may schedule an appointment with a magistrate by dialing (704)
878-4211. The fee is $20.00.
- How do I obtain a copy of my divorce?
If the divorce was processed in Iredell County, you may obtain a copy from the
clerk of courts office on the first floor of the courthouse.
- How do I file separation papers?
It is advisable to see an attorney who will draw up the papers. Both
parties will sign the document, and it must be properly notarized. The recording fee
is $14.00 for the first page and $3.00 for each additional page.
- Can I obtain a copy of a birth certificate from your office?
The Register Deeds office houses birth, marriage and death certificates for
Iredell County only. Vital records houses birth records for births in the state of
