Solid Waste Decals
Each year Iredell County Solid Waste and Recycling issues vehicle decals to property owners and residents of Iredell County which allows them access to trash collection sites located throughout our community. These sites DO NOT accept trash from non-residents of Iredell County. Since the Iredell County Solid Waste and Recycling Department is supported by tax dollars and tipping fees, using the decals helps to keep costs down by keeping trash from other counties out of our collection sites.
The staff of the Iredell County Solid Waste and Recycling Department would like to remind property owners who use any of the county’s trash collections sites to replace their old 2009 Solid Waste Windshield decals with the new 2010 version. Iredell homeowners should have received a decal with their property tax statement which was mailed in August of this year. It is okay to apply the decal as soon as you receive it and by no later than January 1st. The decals should be applied to the lower left of the windshield of vehicles being used to haul waste.
All Solid Waste locations will have decals available and attendants will work with eligible homeowners to obtain a decal if they did not receive one or have misplaced the decal. Proof of residency will be required. Be prepared to provide a drivers license or other photo ID along with a vehicle registration, utility bill, tax statement or loan closing papers that can be used to establish proof of residence. Landlords are responsible for providing decals to their tenants. Renters will not be able to have decals issued directly to them. No more than 2 decals will be issued for any individual property. After January 31st, the Solid Waste Department may refuse service to anyone who does not have a current decal. Iredell County provides citizen drop off sites at 5 locations including the landfill located at 354 Twin Oaks Road, Statesville; the Mooresville Transfer Station at 158 Macleod Drive in Mooresville; West Iredell at 257 Watermelon Road, Statesville; Central located at 3918 Wilkesboro Highway and Union Grove/Harmony located at 866 West Memorial Highway in Harmony.
