Important – Rabies Alert

Iredell County Animal Services & Control, along with the Iredell County Health Department has reported another confirmed case of rabies, which is the 15th confirmed case this year. This case involved a rabid skunk attacking an unvaccinated dog, which was in a lot, on Yadkin Valley Rd off Hwy 115 in the Trinity community.

All dogs, cats, and ferrets are required by State law to be vaccinated at the age of 3 months. According to the law, any unvaccinated pet or one that has an expired rabies vaccination and has an exposure to a rabid animal will be required to be euthanized or quarantined at a licensed veterinarian’s office for six months at the owner’s expense.

Citations of $75.00 per animal will be given to anyone without a current rabies vaccination for their animals.
