First Formal Comment Period on HOT Lanes Opens

Citizen comments are received and documented any time, but the first of several formal public comment periods for the HOT lanes proposal is now underway.  Those interested in the HOT lanes could attend one of two meetings in Charlotte, or post a comment at one of these two websites.

“The Mecklenburg-Union Metropolitan Planning Organization (MUMPO) will open a 30-day public comment period on Saturday, March 23 and hold Open House-format meetings to receive the public’s input on proposed amendments to its 2035 Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and 2012-2018 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).  Public input will also be received on the Conformity Determination Report for the amended LRTP and TIP.  The meetings are scheduled for the following dates and locations:

April 10, 2013
5:00 – 7:00 PM
CPCC-Merancas Campus
Belk Center Auditorium
11920 Verhoeff Dr.
Huntersville, NC 28078
April 11, 2013
5:00-7:00 PM

MUMPO is considering amending its LRTP and TIP, and making a conformity determination, in response to an NCDOT proposal to implement improvements to I-77 by constructing high occupancy toll (HOT) lanes from I-277 (Brookshire Freeway) in Charlotte, to NC 150 (exit 36) in Mooresville.

All pertinent documents can be viewed at” (Robert Cook, Mecklenburg-Union Metropolitan Planning Organization)
