  1. Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee

    Purpose: To maintain the spirit of the Patients’ Bill of Rights; to improve the quality of care for residents of adult care homes; to monitor the care provided by the homes and resolve grievances of the residents and their families.
    Statutory authority: G.S. 131E-128

    Note: In accordance with legislation, individuals are not permitted to serve if:

    1. they have a financial interest in a home served by the committee.
    2. they are employed in a home served by the committee.
    3. they have an immediate family member in one of the homes. (Immediate family is defined as mother, father, sister, brother, child, grandmother, or grandfather, as well as in-laws.)

  2. Animal Control Grievance Committee

    Purpose: To hear appeals from dog owners who have animals deemed to be dangerous according to G.S. 67-4.1.

  3. Board of Adjustment

    Purpose: To hear zoning appeals; to review special use permits; and to grant variances to the zoning ordinance. Appointments are made in accordance with G.S. 153A-345.

  4. Board of Equalization & Review

    Purpose: To hear appeals in reference to the listings or assessments of real and personal property and motor vehicles. 
    Statutory authorization: G.S. 105-322.

  5. Board of Health

    Purpose: To assist in the writing of policies and regulations regarding public health issues. Also serves as an adjudicatory body.
    Statutory authorization: G.S. 130A-35.

  6. Carolinas Partnership

    Purpose: To aid in the economic development and marketing of the Charlotte region (contiguous counties to Charlotte).

  7. Centralina Aging Advisory Committee (Region F*)

    Purpose: To advise the area aging staff and the council of government’s board on the development and administration of the Region F Area Plan on Aging.

  8. Centralina Development Corporation (CDC)

    Purpose: To help entrepreneurs, within the nine Centralina counties, to finance land, construction, renovation, or equipment for new or existing small businesses.

  9. Centralina Economic Development Commission

    Purpose: To build collaborative partnerships to promote the growth of high technology industry clusters and to expand economic activity.

  10. Centralina Workforce Development Board

    Purpose: To work with employers, job seekers, training providers, government agencies, educational institutions and civic groups to enhance the quality of employment.

  11. Community Advisory Program for Disabled Adults (CAP-DA)

    Purpose: To help guide and direct the CAP-DA program, to provide needed assistance and to help educate the community about CAP-DA.

  12. Criminal Justice Partnership Program Committee (CJPP)

    Purpose: To participate in a planning process to develop a community-based corrections plan; to review grant proposals and make recommendations to the board of commissioners.
    Statutory authorization: G.S. 143B-273.11

  13. Crossroads Behavioral Healthcare Area Board (Surry-Yadkin-Iredell Area Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Authority)

    Purpose: To adopt a system of by-laws, policies, and rules which shall govern its own operations and those of the program. The area board shall assure the provision of appropriate and adequate required services to consumers; oversee the system of financial management and accountability; monitor and evaluate the quality of care and provide for appropriate  corrective action of identified problems; establish and maintain a relationship with the area director, provide for the safety, rights and treatment of consumers and staff; and establish all policies on behalf of the area authority.

  14. Farmland Preservation

    Purpose: To review and approve applications for qualified farmland and voluntary agricultural districts and make recommendations concerning the establishment and modification of agricultural districts; to hold public hearings; to advise the board of commissioners on projects, programs, or issues affecting the agricultural economy.

    Note: A listing of possible candidates for this board will be compiled by the Soil and Water Conservation District, the Cooperative Extension Service, and the U.S. Department of Agricultural Farm Service Agency. (Five of the seven members of this board must be actively engaged in farming.)

  15. Fire Tax District Board

    Purpose: To oversee and determine funding appropriations to the volunteer fire
    departments included in the county-wide fire district, i.e., Central, Cool Springs, Ebenezer, Harmony, Lake Norman, Monticello, South Iredell, Trinity, Troutman, Union Grove, Wayside, West Iredell, County Line, Lone Hickory, Sheffield-Callahan, and Wilkes- Iredell.

  16. Hazardous Waste & Low Level Radioactive Waste Management Board

    Purpose: To assist in making recommendations to the board of commissioners on all matters concerning the regulation of hazardous and low-level radioactive waste.

  17. Historical Properties Commission

    Purpose: To assist in the conservation of historic properties; to promote the use and conservation of historic properties for the education, pleasure and enrichment of the residents of Iredell County, the Town of Troutman,  the county, and the state as a whole.

  18. Home & Community Care Block Grant Committee

    Purpose: To make recommendations to the board of commissioners on the services/programs and funding needed for the county’s older population and to create long-range planning.

  19. Industrial Facilities & Pollution Control Financing Authority (IRB)

    Purpose: To assist in the creation of jobs that will raise the average wage level in the community and reduce unemployment by assisting companies in obtaining industrial revenue bonds.
    Statutory authority: G.S. 159C-4.

  20. Information & Referral Service Advisory Council (I & R)

    Purpose: To aid in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the Information and Referral Program.

  21. Jury Commission

    Purpose: To eliminate persons on the "raw jury list" who are known to be disqualified and unable to serve by grounds stated in the statutes (these grounds being non-citizenship, non-residence,  juror has already served during the past two years, under 18 years of age, unable to speak or understand English, felons unless citizenship has been restored, physical/mental incompetence, or insanity).
    Statutory authority: G.S. 9-1

  22. Juvenile Crime Prevention Council

    Purpose: To review the needs of the juvenile population in the county who are at risk of delinquency or who have been adjudicated undisciplined or delinquent; to ensure that appropriate intermediate dispositional options are available; to make recommendations to the board of commissioners on the level of state funding to be awarded to local delinquency prevention programs.
    Statutory authority: G.S. 147-33.61

  23. Lake Norman Marine Commission

    Purpose: To review variance requests and site plans; to assist in the maintenance of lighted and unlighted navigational aids; to assist in providing water safety programs.

  24. Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC)

    Purpose: The duties and activities of the ICLEPC are those set forth by the Iredell County Board of Commissioners, not limited to, but in accordance with Title III of the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986 (SARA).

    1. Establish procedures for reviewing and processing requests from the public for information under Section 324 of the act.
    2. Develop a chemical hazard/risk analysis.
    3. Develop emergency response procedures for off-site emergency response personnel.
    4. Identify private/public sector resources available to deal with hazardous materials emergencies.
    5. Review emergency plans submitted by the subcommittees and make recommendations on revisions of the plans that may be necessary to ensure coordination of such plan with emergency response plans of other emergency planning agencies.
    6. Exercise emergency response plans and update them accordingly.

  25. Mitchell College Board of Trustees

    Purpose: To assist in the development and operations of the community college in accordance with the provisions of the law and the standards of the State Board of Community Colleges.
    Statutory authority: G.S. 115D-12,13.

  26. Mooresville Planning Board (ETJ )

    Purpose: To aid in determining objectives to be sought in the development of Mooresville and to prepare and adopt methods for achieving these objectives; to develop and recommend policies and ordinances. (This group also serves as the Board of Adjustment.)
    (Must reside within one-mile of Mooresville’s town limits.)

  27. Nursing Home Advisory Committee

    Purpose: To maintain the spirit of the Nursing Home Patients’ Bill of Rights; to improve the quality of care for residents of nursing homes; to monitor nursing home care and resolve grievances of the residents and their families.
    Statutory authority: G.S. 131E-128.

    Note: In accordance with legislation, individuals are not permitted to serve if:

    2. they are employed in a home served by the committee.

  28. Personnel Advisory Committee

    Purpose: To hear county employee grievances; to provide advice on personnel matters as requested by the county manager or personnel officer.

  29. Planning Board

    Purpose: To aid in determining objectives to be sought in the development of the county and to prepare and adopt methods for achieving these objectives; to develop and recommend policies and ordinances.
    Statutory authority: G.S. 153A-321.

  30. Public Facilities Corporation

    Purpose: To promote the general welfare of the county’s citizens by assisting in the acquisition, construction and operation, sale or lease of real estate and improvements, facilities and equipment for the use and benefit of the general public.

  31. Recreation Advisory Board

    Purpose: To serve as an advisory body for the department of recreation and the county; to serve as a liaison between the department, the manager, the board of commissioners and the citizens of the county; to serve as an advisory body in matters affecting policies, programs, personnel, finances, and the acquisition and disposal of lands and properties related to the total community recreation program.
    Statutory authority: G.S. 8-26, 27.

  32. Social Services Board

    Purpose: To oversee the general functions of all social services programs; to approve the agency’s budget; to review/approve new personnel requests and to hire the director.
    Statutory authority: G.S. 108A

  33. Statesville Airport Authority

    Purpose: To aid in the administration and enforcement of the regulations set forth in the Statesville Code and to make further rules and regulations for safe and proper operation of the airport.

  34. Statesville Planning Board (ETJ)

    Purpose: To aid in determining objectives to be sought in the development of the City of Statesville and to prepare and adopt methods for achieving these objectives; to develop and recommend policies and ordinances.
    (Must reside within one-mile of the city limits.)

  35. Statesville Board of Adjustment (ETJ)

    Purpose: To hear zoning appeals; to review special use permits; and to grant variances to the zoning ordinance.
    (Must reside within one-mile of the city limits.)

  36. Troutman Planning/Zoning Board (ETJ)

    Purpose: To aid in determining objectives to be sought in the development of Troutman and to prepare and adopt methods for achieving these objectives; to develop and recommend policies and ordinances.
    (Must reside within one-mile of the town’s corporate limits.)

    *Note: Region F includes the nine member counties of the Centralina Council of Governments. The counties are Anson, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, and Union.
