Iredell Camp Excursions

Iredell Camp Excursions

Iredell Camp Excursions is an established, overnight trip and travel type camp, offered several times during the summer. This program is designed to incorporate adventure/environmental education through experiential learning. Each trip provides a variety of educational experiences including developing independence, increasing self-esteem, and learning outdoor skills, all while participating in action packed adventure activities. Some activities include (but are not limited to) ropes challenge courses, rappelling, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, camping, canoeing, sea kayaking, snorkeling, and caving.

 

2012 Camp Excursions Sessions

$575.00 per person
Ages 11-14
cost includes transportation, admission, meals, and accommodations

 

Iredell Camp Excursions Southern Adventure - Friday, June 15 - Saturday, June 23

Get ready for a week full of adventure with a start at our ropes challenge course in Mooresville! Experience sea kayaking in Charleston, SC; World of Coca-Cola and Georgia's Aquarium in Atlanta, GA; hiking at Stone Mountain, GA; and whitewater rafting on the Chattooga in Tallulah Falls, GA. Each night the group will camp under the stars in tents and learn how to cook dinner over a fire.
Mandatory pre-trip meeting is Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 7:00pm at the Outdoor Education Center in Mooresville.

 

Coastal Connections - Friday, July 20 - Saturday, July 28

Travel to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for some fun at the beach. The week will start in Mooresville at our ropes challenge course and time to get to know the group. Our stops for this week of fun adventure will be sea kayaking at Kitty Hawk; surf lessons in Nags Head; and exploring historical landmarks, beaches, and state parks. Each night the group will camp under the stars in tents and learn how to cook dinner over a fire.
Mandatory pre-trip meeting is Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 7:00pm at the Outdoor Education Center in Mooresville.

 


 

REGISTRATION

To register, please register online through our website or come into the Parks & Recreation Office located at 200 S. Center St, Statesville, NC 28687. A deposit of $100.00 is required for placement in each camp session. Full payment is due three weeks before the start of your camp session.

Registration deadline is three weeks prior to each camp date. Early registration is recommended due to limited space. Registration fees are refundable up to three weeks prior to each camp date. After this date there will be no refund unless a camp is cancelled by the Recreation Department.

Drop off/pickup locations

Camp will begin at the Outdoor Education Center at 6:00pm the first night of your session. The group will eat dinner together as a time to get to know each other, so have your camper come ready to eat. At the end of camp, you will pickup your camper in Statesville at the Parks & Recreation Office. There is no guarantee of when the exact time camp arrives back to Statesville, so your camper will give you a phone call about an hour before they return.

Provisions

The cost of each session includes all equipment, transportation, meals, instruction, and admission fees where applicable. Campers can bring their own sleeping bag and spending money. The Parks & Recreation Department will provide tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and all eating and drinking utensils. Please inform the recreation staff if you need to borrow a sleeping bag and sleeping pad.
