Position: GIS DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR/PROGRAMMER

Department: Tax Administration & Land Records
Duties: Responsibility for Microsoft SQL Server Database administration, management, and security protocols. Administers and tunes ESRI’s Spatial Data Engine (SDE) where most all GIS data resides, stores and manages raster images into SDE; uses ArcObjects/Visual Basic computer programming to customize ArcGIS software applications; administers ArcIMS (Internet Map Server), ArcGIS Server and associated GIS applications; utilizes ArcIMS & ArcGIS Server to create websites for county departments and customizes them using HTML, JSP, ASP, and .NET; performs spatial analysis, data management, and interfacing GIS with relational databases such as SQL server and MS Access; uses data to create complex data views and queries with the database; and performs daily reconciliation of GIS versioned geodatabases, weekly updates of website accessed geodatabases, and weekly transfers of CAMA (Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal) data into SDE. Employee must exercise considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with County and municipal officials and the general public. Reports to the GIS Administrator.
Minimum Education & Experience: Graduation from a four year college or university with a degree in cartography, geography, planning, computer science, information systems or related field and a minimum of 2 years work experience using ESRI software technology, including ArcGIS, ArcIMS, ArcObjects and ArcSDE; or, any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Special Qualifications Desired: Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Salary Range: $42,658.16 - $66,163.06
Salary Grade: 72
Hiring Range: up to $58,698.92 DOQ
